On Wednesday evening we will resume our Orthodox Studies inquirer course on the history of the Byzantine Church. Last time we discussed the conversion of Emperor Constantine. This time we'll look at the amazing impact it had on the Roman Empire. Come join us at 6:30 pm!
New Music Recordings on Our Website
For the recent celebration of the Exaltation of the Cross on September 14, our parish served the beautiful festal vigil that includes the solemn rite of bringing out the cross for veneration in the middle of our church temple. This year we recorded this service and selections of some of its memorable hymns can be found on our parish website under the Explore/Liturgical Chant page
Have a listen and enjoy!
New Orthodox Studies Series Begins Wednesday!
Welcome to Our New Website!
Today we are introducing a new website that is even better equipped to communicate our parish life to the world around us. Be sure to look through all of the pages for a full picture of what's happening!
Among the leading features of the new site is the Explore Folder, where you can sample recordings of our choir's liturgical singing and lectures by our rector from the Orthodox Studies class. There you will also find photo galleries to enjoy.
Also of interest is our new Our Stories page under the Who We Are tab, where you can watch short video interviews with some of our members about their experience in the Orthodox Church and at our parish.
A special thanks to the faithful of Holy Ascension Orthodox Church in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina for support and encouragement in this process. It is from the Orthodox hymnography of the Holy Ascension that the phrase "Uniting Earth to Heaven" comes, and their parish is surely an inspiring example of this!
